BIOL 370 PRINCIPLES OF ANIMAL PHYSIOLOGY
Primarily devoted to core principles and concepts in animal physiology, emphasis will be placed on the regulation and integration of vertebrate and invertebrate systems, from the molecular/cellular through the whole organism levels. Many concepts are presented from a comparative perspective, illustrating how evolution has modified physiology to suit the needs of animals in specific environments.
Prerequisites: BIOL 140B Principles of Organismal Biology
CHEM 112 General Chemistry II
BIOL 475 GLOBAL CHANGE BIOLOGY
The primary objective of this course is to obtain a broad understanding of the mechanisms by which plants, animals, and ecosystems are responding to global change and to appreciate link between physical, chemical, and biological systems and anthropogenic (human) activities.

BIOL 476 GENERAL ENDOCRINOLOGY
This course will discuss endocrinology from both an anatomical and physiological perspective. The course will describe the synthesis, distribution and regulation of hormones in human (mostly) and animal endocrine systems. Endocrine functions will be explored through the pathophysiology of endocrine disorders.

BIOL 488 ENVIRONMENTAL PHYSIOLOGY
The primary goal of this course is to examine how abiotic factors-including oxygen, temperature, water, salts, and pH-influence the function of animal molecules, cells, and organ systems. In short, we will be studying the impact that the environment has on “how animals work”. The field of environmental physiology will be analyzed and discussed through a two-step process. In the first step, we will identify how variation in a specific abiotic factor influences the physiological function of a given species. In the second step, we will explore evolutionary changes that have occurred in this species in order to cope with the environment and survive in particular ecosystems.
